Urolithin A is one of the isomers of urolithin. Urolithin A (UA) is a natural compound produced by gut bacteria from ingested ellagitannins (ETs) and ellagic acid (EA), complex polyphenols abundant in foods such as pomegranate, berries. Urolithin A is grey white powder with the molecular formula of C13H8O4.
Studies show that Urolithin A powder may improve mitochondrial function by cleaning damaged mitochondria in the cells, and promoting the growth of healthy mitochondria.
